ORIGINS 2008
After not being sure if we were going to be at Origins this year, we're planning on doing a lot, but not running a booth. The tentative schedule/plan is up here, and look for pictures to get added as we go. UPDATE: Download the slides from Brant's Origins War College talk here.
We had a great time, and seemed much busier than we did any time when we were running a booth.
Chris was in a variety of games and meetings covering a variety of games. Brant was heavily involved for a few days with the Origins War College, but also had a few good meetings different folks, too.
The MDMP Workbook made its debut in its new format, courtesy of the guys at Ad Astra Games / Final Sword Productions. Look for it to appear on Amazon.com, at your local AAFES outlet, and a few other places, sometime soon. An extract from that workbook was also used by Dr James Sterrett at the Origins War College for his series on Training to Play Games the Army/Marine Way. The participants were put thru a very limited version of the Army's MDMP and then executed their plan in an actual game. One scenario was played out in Flashpoint Germany, another in Conquest of the Aegean, and a third in Battles for the Bulge. The fourth event was in Close Combat: Marine 6, but used a squad FRAGO and not the MDMP book. Brant's contributions, besides the book, were coordinating and deploying the USMC DVTE suite of computers (thanks Paul!) and also taught the participants a small bit about decision points and intelligence areas of interest.
There were a few games each of W101: Asian Thunder, and Next Wars I: Orange Crush up in the War Room. |
